February 2025
During February, the Gold Coast will be hosting the 2025 AACTA Festival at HOTA (Home of the Arts) from the 5th-9th with a variety of family friendly activities, as well as the Gold Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo at the People First Stadium from the 7th-9th. Click on the links for more information.
There's also sporting events featuring the return of the Australia/Oceania regional WSL Qualifying Series, the Gold Coast Open, at the iconic Burleigh Heads. It's a 3 day event from 14th-16th with plenty of entertainment including live music, a beach bar, food trucks and of course world class surfing. The Shaw & Partners Iron Series is also on at North Burleigh on Saturday, 1st February, always exciting to watch.
Movieworld has recently opened a world-first 'WIZARD OF OZ' precinct featuring new family-friendly rides, including The flight of The Wicked Witch and the family boomerang racer, Kansas Twister. We have had quite a few families visit Bluey's World in Brisbane since it's opening last November, it's a huge attaction for the kids and well worth a visit if your kids (and you!) love the Bluey TV Series.
We all know it's Valentine's Day on the 14th, there are plenty of good restaurants to choose from if you're thinking of celebrating.
The ocean is very warm so the beach is still a big attraction also!
Weather: February, on average, has the heaviest rainfall of the year with a forecast of 14 days rain and 6 tropical storms, which usually occur late afternoons.
The majority of days are forecast to be partly cloudy.
You should reasonably expect maximum daily temperatures around 29º

The water temperature at the beach should be about 27°
Humidity is higher this month with an average of 70% but decreasing to around 63% over the course of the month

Other matters: School is back, so you shouldn't expect to encounter too many crowds at the tourist attractions, and the beaches won't be quite as populated.
All beaches are patrolled from 8am-5pm during Queensland School Holidays, most are patrolled all year round. Never swim outside the flags or at beaches not patrolled by Life Guards. Here is a link to a map of patrolled Gold Coast beaches
There are many excellent picnic areas on the Gold Coast, a favourite being Tallebudgera Lagoon on the south side of the Burleigh Headland and the Gold Coast Botanic Gardens in Benowa.
We also have several local markets offering fresh produce, unique arts & craft, fashion, entertainment and street food. Click on this link Gold Coast markets to find locations.
The Gold Coast also has an endless supply of retail shopping including Australia's largest outlet shopping centre at Harbour Town. See the list below.
For nature lovers and bush walkers, Springbrook National Park and Tamborine Mountain on the Scenic Rim are a must, however, it can be very hot and humid this time of year, so be sure to take a hat and plenty of water! For the kids, Tamborine Mountain has the Glow Worm Caves and Thunderbird Park where you can fossick for gemstone filled Thundereggs.
