Other matters: School holidays are over, so you shouldn't expect to encounter too many crowds at the tourist attractions, and the beaches won't be quite as populated.
All beaches are patrolled from 8am-5pm during Queensland School Holidays, most are patrolled all year round. Never swim outside the flags or at beaches not patrolled by Life Guards. Here is a link to a map of patrolled Gold Coast beaches
There are many excellent picnic areas on the Gold Coast, a favourite being Tallebudgera Lagoon on the south side of the Burleigh Headland and the Gold Coast Botanic Gardens in Benowa.
We also have several local markets offering fresh produce, unique arts & craft, fashion, entertainment and street food. Click on this link Gold Coast markets to find locations.
The Gold Coast also has an endless supply of retail shopping including Australia's largest outlet shopping centre at Harbour Town. See the list below.
For nature lovers and bush walkers, Springbrook National Park and Tamborine Mountain on the Scenic Rim are a must for this time of year, be sure to take a hat and plenty of water! For the kids, Tamborine Mountain has the Glow Worm Caves and Thunderbird Park where you can fossick for gemstone filled Thundereggs.
