October 2024
October is generally sunny days followed by mild tropical evenings, a lovely time to visit the Gold Coast - the ocean is still warm and the whales are still passing through! The big event this month over 3 days is the Groundwater Country Music Festival, it's a FREE event at Kurrawa Park, Broadbeach from 18th-20th.
Weather: The majority of days this October are forecast to be partly cloudy - but only 7 days rain are forecast.
You should reasonably expect maximum daily temperatures averaging 250 - overnight is warming up with an average around 18º.
The water temperature at the beach should be about 220.
Humidity is usually moderate with an average of 67%.
We obtain much of our information from: Accuweather Website If you want to get information on specific days you can just click on the link.
Other matters: The school holiday crowds are here until the middle of the month; so you should expect to encounter crowds at the tourist attractions, and the beaches will be moderately populated.
All beaches are patrolled from 8am-5pm during Queensland School Holidays, most are patrolled all year round. Never swim outside the flags or at beaches not patrolled by Life Guards. Here is a link to a map of patrolled Gold Coast beaches
There are many excellent picnic areas on the Gold Coast, a favourite being Tallebudgera Lagoon on the south side of the Burleigh Headland and the Gold Coast Botanic Gardens in Benowa.
We also have several local markets offering fresh produce, unique arts & craft, fashion, entertainment and street food. Click on this link Gold Coast markets to find locations.
The Gold Coast also has an endless supply of retail shopping including Australia's largest outlet shopping centre at Harbour Town. See the list below.
For nature lovers and bush walkers, now the weather is still cool, Springbrook National Park and Tamborine Mountain on the Scenic Rim are a must. For the kids, Tamborine Mountain has the Glow Worms Cave and Thunderbird Park where you can fossick for gemstone filled Thundereggs.
