Our Car Seats are Free - what about everyone else's?
Including us, we have identified 49 car rental entities servicing the Gold Coast, operating under 56 different business names/websites. Twelve of them do not offer any child safety seats or booster seats to their car hire customers.
- Three businesses charge a flat $10 per child seat or booster seat
- 43 businesses have a “per seat, per day” charge, varying from $2 per seat per day to $13.27 per seat per day (one company each end of the scale).
- Only three companies provide seats free of charge, these being:
Gold Coast Family Car Rentals - Burleigh Heads based but servicing the Gold Coast from Coolangatta to Southport. We provide a very extensive range of child safety seats and booster seats, without charge, except for our “Go Anywhere” Capsule and pram combo. Rear Facing, forward facing, harness boosters, normal boosters, we have the lot at no charge! We believe that it is good practice to keep young children in the same type of seat that they are used to at home (holidays are not the time to be retraining your children), so whatever they have at home, we will have it.
We also have the widest possible range of "Holiday Accessories" at very modest rental charges (e.g. a portable cot for $17.50 for a week; High Chairs $7 a week.
You can rent with confidence from us, because we offer you complete peace of mind – lowest rental prices (Guaranteed), Australia’s fairest rental terms and conditions, free child safety seats and a genuine Zero insurance excess package.
Star Rent A Car - Burleigh Heads based, servicing Gold Coast Airport and several accommodation options, but as at 18th October 2018, their website suggests that they do not offer any pick up or return facility at their West Burleigh offices.
The company appears to deliver cars to the airport or the designated accommodation location with ordered seats already fitted. Their website states that they only supply forward facing upright car seats and booster seats that are not fitted with harnesses and not fixed other than by a conventional seat belt.
Swipe2Drive (also called SwipenGo) - This company provides combination car seats that can be used as rear facing seats for the youngest children, or converted to upright forward-facing car safety seats for older children. Unlike Star, they do have harness boosters, where the child and the seat are more securely fastened than conventional booster seats. Swipe2Drive also offers free push strollers as well as child capsules free of charge.
The company does not disclose an address on their website and there appears to be no rental car collection or return option at their office. They operate by delivering the car to their customers, either at the airport or other nominated collection point, with ordered child seats already fitted.
